Glutathione
Glutathione is the body’s natural antioxidant. Glutathione reduces the free radical damage in the body. It also helps prevent inflammation and disease. Glutithione shots are a very good supplement for any adult.
Glutathione, also known as GSH, is a very simple molecule, a tripeptide, that is present within your cells. A tripeptide is a combination of three amino acids in this case it is comprised of the amino acids: cysteine, glycine and glutamine. Glutathione is of prime importance because of its role as an antioxidant. Antioxidants are immensely important because they inhibit oxidation of other molecules. Oxidation can produce free radicals which are highly-reactive unpaired molecules that, if in excess, may contribute to degenerative diseases and cancers. Glutathione works against these free radicals, by sacrificing itself to oxidation.
There are many causes of glutathione levels decreasing in the body, including environmental toxins, poor diet, stress, aging, infections, chemotherapy and pollution. As glutathione levels decrease, and become suboptimal, supplementation becomes necessary. Like many other effective antioxidants, glutathione is available in capsules, tablets, and powders. However research shows that oral supplementation is incredibly difficult, requiring in excess of 3 grams per dose to find any noticeable rise in GSH levels. This is due to poor oral glutathione absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. The only truly effective form to increase GSH levels is with glutathione injections.
